new born baby tips 20 new born baby tips
my wife is breast-feeding our new-born baby. what is a good diet so that she lactates and also shed weight?

during her pregnancy she has put on 18kilos and now she wishes to reduce those extra kilos. what is a diet so that she lactates well (since sometimes she doesnt lactate that much) and what is a diet to also start shedding those extra kilos she has put on?
is it a good idea to start aerobics since she has delivered only 6 weeks ago? will be grateful for tips.

No specific diet plan... just eat healthy - the normal lean protein, lots of produce in lots of colors, whole grains. As soon as she's cleared for physical activity by her doctor aerobics is great!!

the average breastfeeding woman burns an extra 500 calories just producing milk... so by eating to satisfy hunger and exercising many women lose weight without too much struggle... but remember, tell her to remember, it took 9 months to pack on those pounds... expecting her body to bounce back like Heidi Klum's is not reasonable.

Working out is great- does not affect breastmilk, (unless you're super training for the olympics, then shortly after working out her milk has a higher acid content, not at all harmful, but changing the flavor and babies don't like that)

this breastfeeding website is great... run by an IBCLC, there is no higher level of education in breastfeeding, here's what they say about weight loss:
